- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Jennifer D -- Understanding the harvest for dummies! (or city folk) : Right down the bottom of the world in New Zealand, I've never even seen a field of wheat. Now I feel as though I nearly have! This book is an entertaining, first person narrative which paints a vivid picture in the minds eye of harvest in the States. Picture the people, the food, the scenery, the vehicles and of course, the immense crop. A light, easy read for anyone. ( Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2019 )

- 4.0 out of 5 stars from A Constant Reader -- Take a trip to the Midwest : This book is about a man from New Zealand coming to the American Midwest to experience the harvest season. While I am not from the Midwest, I am from the rural South and have been involved in some kind of farming and harvesting all my life. I could relate with the authors experiences on a smaller level. - 3.0 out of 5 stars from Stan Finger -- A first-person account of an American harvest season : Paul writes an engaging account of what it's like to work on a harvest crew in 2016. A native of New Zealand, it's his first time seeing America's heartland, so his perspective is compelling. He clearly loves big engines and big vehicles. I grew up on a farm and was used to seeing custom cutters come through, so it was interesting to read about things from that side of the equation. I wish he would have talked to more farmers about their growing season, but when you're that busy I imagine those opportunities were scarce. I also would have liked to see more introspection...but, again, as busy as they typically were, it's a challenge just to keep pace. ( Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2020 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Captain Average -- Great read : Really good reading ( Reviewed in Australia on July 6, 2019 )
